Remembering our Down Bikers
D. C. "Bear" Richardson
Served in the U.S. Army
from 1961 to 1963 during the Vietnam War. He was the owner /operator of
Kodiak Black Hills Gold Shop and Kodiak Roofing in Clinton, and most recently,
Artistic Rebellion Tattoo Parlor in Clinton. Bear was a life long member of
A.B.A.T.E. of Iowa, and also A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois and Wisconsin. He
established the District 21 ABATE Chapter in IA. and part of Illinois. Bear
served as the district's coordinator, and was instrumental in organizing the
Toys for Tots program in the area. He had an active part in starting the annual
Blessing of the Bikes in Fulton, and was a member of HOG (Harley-Davidson Owners
Group) and Motorcycle Riders Foundation and served as a motorcycle-driving
instructor. He was a member of the American Legion of Il., the National Rifle
Association and AARRP. He was a member of the Parachute Club of America and
Blackhawk Skydivers of Sterling and Rock Falls, and had made many exhibition
jumps. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling the open
road on his motorcycle and helping others.
Although "Bear" has ridden off into the sunset on his last ride, he will always
ride with us in our memories.
